Hey! This is first in an installation of Development Blogs to come. Here's what we've been tackling this week.

Please note that we've not been able to do much in terms of gameplay development this week due to all of our network and server issues.

Attacks, and New Server
As you may or may not know, we've been under many attacks which has definitely made new development pretty difficult. We've also decided to open up a second server to allow you guys to connect easier. We met a new milestone with 100/100 players on both servers and we are really proud of the community's effort and desire to join the server even past our issues, props to you guys!

New Bank UI
On the Main servers right now, there's a new Banking Interface - this is a first iteration and will most likely change to involve support for drag & drop movement with the item buttons to streamline the interaction in the menus.

Here's what it looks like right now:

It's a major change in the direction of the bank interface and as you see it supports more items in the bank itself - this will change to involve a premium feature which allows you to have more slots.

New Item Pickup
Item interaction can be a struggle - with players mingegrabbing items and sometimes the feeling of simply making an item disappear in a millisecond is not too satisfying. I've been actually quite interested in making this feature more intuitive and preventing mingegrabbing. The first idea that came to mind was a timer upon using an item - this would mean you have to stay at an item for some seconds for it to be picked up! This in essence stops the mingegrab element and allows players to move that item away for themselves.

Here's a video showing this concept in action:

SWAT
The rule for SWAT was to only be deployed on an Emergency State. That has been changed so you can deploy as SWAT whenever - but a limit to 4 SWAT members can be out at a time to make it not so overpowered.

Overwhelming Support
Since release, we have had so much amazing support from the community and a lot has changed over two weeks and we expect even more to change. We hope to improve the gamemode considerably and hope to increase the fun factor for you all!

Development Blog Poll
I've put a poll in this thread to really grasp if you guys want these kind of development blogs. It's a bit of a task to get them out but I think it adds some clarity and transparancy to our development process - after all we really want to keep the community informed on all of our changes. If you can, vote with your opinion!

Back when I was staff and doing a lot of testing, I didnt really find them useful, obviously. But from a players stand point, I actually really enjoyed it. Definitely continue! Good job to the devs too! Servers really coming along :)

A sound to occupy the loading bar once you've picked up / dropped the item would be nice too, similar to Clockwork.

dev. blogs are really cool, people could even help shape the upcoming updates by giving feedback or suggestions on the dev. blogs.

I still disagree with the SWAT part, but the rest is good.

There's a sound when you actually pick the item up, but not when you drop yet
please elaborate on why you disagree, i'd like to know.
We're going to be introducing a Police Whitelist of some sorts where you will be restricted to certain ranks until you prove yourselves and work up the ranks and one of the supervisors (or any alternative, I don't know) would promote you. I think it will even out the Police Department because right now it's a horror show.

This post is great and just what I've been looking for, however. Despite liking the idea of the timed pickup system, In action it is not effective. It makes gameplay more clunky along with not working unless you are standing on top of workbenches/furniture/large items.
Also effectively eliminates the possibility of collecting items that are rolling down slopes etc.

Thanks!

please make the queue for crafting bigger, it's horrible if you want to make like 100 logs to wood planks and have to refill the queue every minute for twenty
