Both games are absolutely great, but both filled with annoying Chinese hackers.

Mount and Blade Series
Tropico series
Europa Universalis IV
Age of Wonders Series (especially the older ones)
Shadowrun series (if you like turn based combat)

If you would want to try any mmo then EVE Online is the best mmo to play, followed by Albion online

I have Europa, although was very confused when i tried to play and just kinda gave up then started up a game of civ 5.
