Hey everyone,

I can join the server just fine. But when I get into the server, there is always a slim chance my game just completely freezes and the only way to get out of it is to sign out of my computer. There is no error and this freeze just lasts forever until I close the game. It occurs completely randomly in-game and I have no clue what is causing it and it's very annoying.

Any else have this problem?

There are a few steps you could try, try them in order. If none of them help then i'll try find out more. If it's something where your game gets stuck on Sending Client Info on virtually every server, I can't help. I used to have that issue for 4 months and couldn't join 90% of servers.
  1. Verify Game Cache Integrity
    1. Firstly, close down Garry's Mod
    2. Go to the Steam Client
    3. Go to your game library
    4. Right click on Garry's Mod
    5. Go to Properties
    6. Click on Local Files then press "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"
      1. Additionally, try using the command 'gmod_mcore_test 1', this'll allow Garry's Mod to run much smoother, lessesning the chances you crash or freeze.
  2. Removing addons
    1. By removing addons you'll be cleaning up the game. This'll help your game to run smoother, reduce crashes, and help the game process information at a faster rate. You can remove addons either from the Garry's Mod app or the Steam Workshop. It's more efficient to do it from the Steam Workshop.
  3. Try uninstalling unneccessary apps from your computer.
    1. This'll allow your computer to run at a better performance, probably reducing any issues overall. Checking your storage may also give you an insight to any problems.

FPS is not the issue, my framerate is pretty steady. I have multicore rendering and 64bit enabled as well. I only have the content addons and some other stuff as well. I will try verifying the cache to see if it does something.

I find that disabling model decals has worked for me, its likely caused by vcmod cars exploding.

64 Bit Version is in Beta and may crash your game, also this happens to me as well and I use 64 bit as well, if you want a faster way to close it just open Windows + Tab and have a 2nd Desktop with Task manager on it, works for me.

I try joining and gmod just closes before it gets in the server. Or sometimes if I do get in, I can play for 5-10 mins before crashing

Remove all workshop addons.
Go into steam, goto workshop, find “subscribed workshop addons” and unsubscribe from every single one of them, freshly start Garry’s Mod again, if it doesn’t crash, close it, goto the content pack(s), subscribe to them again, make sure you’re downloading all custom files from servers in Options->Multiplayer, and join.
