Hey guys! So what does everyone use for recording software, ya know, for your "body cams" and "go pros"? My pc has shadowplay but it wasnt until the last week that I really wanted to start recording what I'm doing and I am a little unsure of how to use it. What does everyone recommend? What has treated you the best?

What has worked best for me over the last couple of years is, https://plays.tv/ It is pretty reliable and you can cut out clips and do some editing right in the software and have it uploaded soon after.

I use OBS Studio over here, with the right settings it’s pretty light and gets me alright quality.

I do exactly what this guy does, it’s the best option as it doesn’t actively record and I just hit the hotkey if either if something funny happened or just randomly throughout my play time. Then use song Vegas for editing.

Shadowplay. You need to have an NVIDIA GPU though as far as I'm aware. You can download it via Geforce Experience.

@Trevor I want to do that but I have GMOD on my SSD C:Drive but I have most of my heavy games on there and my OS installed on it, too so its space is low. Can I have Shadowplay save footage to my other drive instead of the one GMOD is on?

I record my entire session w/ bandicam. Use Bandicut to cut out needed bits for upload.

OBS is the way to go IMO if you computer is decent, there are plenty of YouTube tutorials on setting it up, once you're set you probably won't need to change it again. Programs like shadow play or some others don't allow for much customisation, it really depends on your intended purpose on what you wish to do with your recordings.

If your recording your game play to use as evidence, then any recording software will do, you can use Windows built in video play back editing option to trim and upload to sites like Youtube or Streamable. You could even record at 144p with audio and still be valid for evidence!

If you wish to make more presentable recordings, then something like OBS is better, I personally use a virtual sound board to separate audio tracks (game audio, mic audio and discord audio), and OBS allows me to also separate audio tracks making it easier to edit voice audio without affecting the game audio... Also means if you are using a virtual sound board like Voice Meeter (what ive been using for 2 years) then OBS cant even hear what other people are saying in discord unless I allow it, meaning you could completely cut out discord comms ;)

Save your files to a Hard disk rather then solid state, its not worth it, some weeks I end up with 80GBs of recording, usually delete them one or two days later giving enough time to ensure someone doesn't try reporting me on the forums.

IMPORTANT
Just be sure that if you are uploading for evidence that your recording starts from before the situation and ends once the situation is over, and that your voice and ingame audio can be heard... Too often have I had people provide video evidence that has no audio or has the recording start mid way through a situation.
