I would add 2001: A Space Odyssey to the Sci-fi list. This movie was wayyy ahead of its time and is my favorite movie of all time in any genre.

Shawshank Redemption, i looove this movie i can say its my favorite. A film that fulfills the sense of function.
you are going to watch it and besides being touched by the story and setting, you will have received a good message.
