Your Lieutenant here,

Lately, I've been noticing that the professionalism of the Police Department has been almost nonexistent. Unlike during the summer, in which we actually do this thing called Radio etiquette. And it was beautiful.

The many things I like about being a Law Enforcement Officer was that I get to better connect with other people through traffic stops, Passive/Aggressive Roleplay, but it's like every time I try to pull someone over for a low-risk misdemeanor, what happens is that 3 other Shops roll up and a SWAT Lenco Bearcat comes up and escalates the situation to the point that everybody involved is already in Heaven.

The unprofessionalism is so rampant that I can't enjoy playing when there is a literal drunk yelling people to go to [Location of where shooting is not at] instead of [Location where it actually is].

It's just not fun anymore where people yell over the radio at each other, fighting each other instead of the actual bad guys. I want real fun and genuine roleplay, such as a group of Detectives and Officers set up a sting operation to bust a hitman recruiter or something.

Well, I guess we can never get what we all want.

Bottom Line:

I am not saying that everybody has to be a literal saint. I'm saying that it is not enjoyable playing as an LEO when your compatriates are acting like children to each other and being unfit to the point of literal unsolicited corruption.

I can't agree more, it drives me away from playing PD lately, since I don't want to just listen to a bunch of monkeys yelling in my ear constantly

This is why I wait for assistant chief position and make my own radio with people on the police force with half a brain. It's kind of like my own whitelist system when I want to RP heavy into being police, people screaming on radio is mostly the chief's fault though. Whenever I am chief I just demote people who break radio etiquette.

Ah but the issue here is I can't do assistant chief, and its rough trying to get the levels to do so in its current state.

What do you expect? When you have a completely accessible police force with no repercussions for being a crap cop, you're gonna get people who have no manners or etiquette. That's mainly why people join good gangs. Aight.

Hey @DrDispenser ,

It's sad to hear that others are hindering your roleplay which is impacting on your experience as a law enforcement officer. But, I have the following to say:
I've been noticing that the professionalism of the Police Department has been almost nonexistent.
The professionalism in the police department will not be 100% any time soon, but people must act accordingly to their job role including rank/positon.

what happens is that 3 other Shops roll up and a SWAT Lenco Bearcat comes up and escalates the situation to the point that everybody involved is already in Heaven.
S.W.A.T. cannot be assisting in these activities unless authorized and if they are they are in violation of the server rules:

5.2.2.1 - A SWAT officer can not perform simplistic police activities like traffic stops or issuing traffic tickets, but can be called as a backup if approved by the Mayor, Sheriff, Chief or Assistant Chief. They may only patrol during either emergency state or exceptionally risky conditions within the city.

5.2.2.4 - As a SWAT officer, you may not be on "standby" for a prolonged period of time at the police station if there is no imminent situation or context warranting SWAT. Active and coordinated training in the SWAT team can always be a valid reason for SWAT to be deployed unless the Sheriff requests SWAT to flag down.

In addition, if any player on law enforcement officer is not acting accordingly you can report them, we do expect players to roleplay to a degree of realism as we are semi-serious.

literal drunk yelling people to go to [Location of where shooting is not at] instead of [Location where it actually is].
Players unfit to play can be temporarily removed from the server if required. If a player is intoxicated and negatively impacting roleplay they are in violation of server rules.

Overall, these are issues which we are aware and resolving but this does take time, as a member of the staff team and police department training, I can assure you players negatively impacting on roleplay are not welcomed, which I encourage you to inform staff of negative behaviour to be dealt with. In addition, providing suggestions for roleplay events to event team staff can allow you to have an enhanced roleplay.

Thanks,
SCOTTISH

How about maybe a rule where if u talk shit or start waffling down the police radio you get a “radio voice blacklist”. wouldnt be hard to implement

If they scream down the mic you can't really say that they're abusing the cop job though, they're abusing the radio.

A) We are considering doing a vote and reward for cop of the month with different categories

B) I will demote anyone misbehaving without warning, as chief and if needed, as any other rank. Other PD trainers are also allowed to do this but I will make them more aware. These are for reasons such as micspam, failrp or and behaviour that is unprofessional. Not misconduct, which will be handled in RP as a criminal investigation.

C) Chiefs failing to do their duty as chief as a manager and just being the same with a bigger gun are liable to blacklists from command roles

Let me know about any measures you would like in place that are not a whitelist or a development thing and I'll be happy to trial them.

I'll be encouraging swift and harsh punishments for those who cannot keep the PD at basic functionality. Fair and kind communicative treatment is for those who respect the experience of other player/officers.

D) Yikes I left for a week and now everyone's acting like a speeding car is the end of the world in radio. Take a breath every now and then. Speed is for response times, not for once you're on scene. Arrive, secure, plan, engage.

Also, if you are demoted as chief or assistant chief and your place is taken by a member of the PD training team, do not be surprised. We are not abusing to get the role, but someone with experience needs to step up and undo any mess made.

The roles come with responsibilities that need to be met.

The problem i have as chief (Im often it) is that if i were to demote people for breaking radio etiquette id end up with only 3 officers remaining. Also its kinda caused by the criminals like its not needed to just jump out with your class 3's and start spraying because your being pulled over for running a red light that just plain retarded but people are desperate for frags these days

This sounds a lot controversial, unfair and very opposite to the Monolith gamemode propose: Having all jobs free and accessible to everyone, without paywalls, whitelists or extra requirements.

As far as im concerned when someone is demoted from their current Job by a staff it was because that person violated/abused a rule or did something boderline it, then the use of the Staff Powers to intervene in that situation was necessary, due to a "fail to rp" reason.
But you say that even someone who is RPing normaly as a Chief, not breaking any rules but not bringing the best results to PD organization due to that person not being as "experienced" as you, can be demoted. Well, if this person is unable to organize the PD properly due to their inexperience, this is an IN-RP problem and not actually a reason to require an external Staff intervention.

If you are relying in a IN-RP situation/reason to use your Staff Powers and intervene in it, in favour of you or your group, I don't see how this can't be seen as abuse.
Is not that the Chief is being rude, minging, or borderline breaking a rule, he is just inexperienced enough to handle the PD satisfactorily. This is normal and sounds realistic, since each person is different and the PD will not always have someone well experienced, but there will be aways people learning to manage it and be a good Chief.
Now imagine yourself: you are playing Chief normally and then a Staff comes and says that you are not doing your job properly and you will be replaced by someone from a select group of people that he believes to be "experienced" as they were some sort of special-chosen persons, you even still must not feel frustrated because this is normal and doesn't look like abuse at all. Better rethink this procedure, it might lead to a staff report.

Note that, I am not criticizing the need for PD Organization or even the existence of the Mrp Training Team which is cool, but how you guys want to use your Staff Powers to intervene in other people's RP without a solid/stong reason, frustrating other people's experiences - people who just wanted to be Chief - in favor of your select and closed group of people who think they are more apt to the point of taking other people out of their Jobs, literally.

Won't it count as corruption if the person does something very very wrong in their job? Because if that is the case then they need Staff perms to do so.

It has been agreed by the team that if a PD chief is just on the job as a regular cop and not leading - I.e just there for the better gun and paycheck, then they will be removed from the job. This is because of all the times a chief has been on and ignoring the terrible radio procedure etc which has led to a deterioration of the chain of command.

We do not intend to give the jobs to a closed group of people, only remove those who are negatively impacting the pd without denying them access to what they want to be doing, that is playing as a cop, not a leader.

Those incapable of doing so will be offered support through an internal affairs team. It is those simply NOT doing so that will be removed from office.

No one in game can hold the chief to account meaningfully in character.

This unprofessionalism does not just affect fellow officers, but the citizens as well.

When I responded to a call about a man going to commit suicide. I was doing very well until half of the Police Force rolled up and yelled at him to jump and one of them tased the guy.

This... well, that's bad policing...
