So recently ive been looking into upgrading my 1050 ti to a 1060 or 1070. I know my PC's 500 watt PSU can handle a 1060 but I'm not so sure about a 1070. I'm afraid that the PSU would blow up or break from not having enough watts.
Here are my specs:
8GB DDR4 RAM
EVGA GTX 1050 TI
I5 6500
WD BLUE 1 TB HD
EVGA 500 WATT PSU (White)
Intel ProVD Mother Board

The specifications for the GTX 1060 and 1070 state:
  • 1060: Maximum Graphics Card Power (W) - 120 W
  • Minimum System Power Requirement (W) - 400 W

  • 1070: Maximum Graphics Card Power (W) - 150 W
  • Minimum System Power Requirement (W) - 500 W
Maybe this will help.

Technically it would operate correctly however, a good rule of thumb I have found is it have 100 watts more than required. You might want to ask someone more in tune on this topic though.
