Reason for Report: So initially, this all started when I engaged in a dialogue with @Kn1ght via !pm inquiring as to why I had received a 3-day OOC blacklist over a minor infraction which would normally receive a simple verbal warning. I had received no warning, and felt that this was a bit harsh, so I replied to Kn1ght's pm informing me of my blacklist to ask why he would give me such a long blacklist over such a minor offense, and one which I have rarely committed at that (There are far more glaring examples of OOC misuse that go unpunished). After a brief dialogue with Kn1ght via pm, during which I dared to respectfully disagree with him, he abruptly banned me for "unacceptable behavior". Citizens of Monolith, I ask you: Is politely criticizing a staff decision in a private message conversation *really* something that we want staff to start handing out bans for? When you censor any criticism of yourself, that says more about your character than the person being censored. In this matter, I believe that it is clear Kn1ght acted out of anger and not logic.

Allow me to start off by saying that you don't get to choose your punishment on the server for breaking rules. Now, I'll go into why I issued a 3-day blacklist in OOC on you.


Your were complaining about staff in OOC due to in-game events, something this isn't your first time doing. As for your previous supposition in-game that your behavior only warranted a warning, I present to you evidence from a recent player report made against you.

For the above, you received a verbal warning. As for your final notion of "politely criticizing" staff.

Your attitude with staff is unacceptable, as is your use of OOC. For the above messages, I banned you for 1-hour in the hopes that you would cool off and learn to make proper use of the blacklist I issued.

My attitude is unacceptable? You're tone policing me now because you don't like what I have to say? I guess a bad attitude (Which I suppose is defined as "disagreeing with staff to any degree") is grounds for a ban now? Yikes. Completely laughable. If the only issue you can muster when called out for abuse is that I was rude to you, when in fact what I said was a mere statement of my opinion and an observation of how you typically handle proceedings AND NOT in any way a personally directed derogatory remark, then your entire response there is pretty telling. Pretty interesting how you cherry picked which of my replies to include screenshots of in your message there, too. A lawyer somewhere out there would be very proud. Back to the matter at hand: Me being critical of how you perform your job /=/ me being disrespectful.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but it would not be inaccurate to say that the staff takes it personally and reacts more harshly to criticism of themselves. Would you like to take a poll? I see people abuse OOC constantly without punishment but if their OOC abuse is in someway critical of a staff member, you (as in Kn1ght specifically) feel obligated to defend your friend regardless of their actions, setting aside upholding the rules of the server in a consistent manner.

I'm not asking to "choose my punishment" that's preposterous. What I am asking, however, is that you maintain a certain level of consistency in how you enforce the rules, instead of playing favorites (which has been clearly demonstrated to me by your conduct time and time again unfortunately)

Your attitude is indeed unacceptable, which is what you were banned for. To be clear, I did not ban you simply for sending me messages (which were in and of themselves unacceptable), I banned you because your behavior as a whole on the server in general and in OOC in specific has been unacceptable, and you have refused to acknowledge this or improve over time. Going back only a day into your logs, I find this

You, like others, have been warned about your behavior in OOC. If you felt that Backflare had done something wrong as a staff member, you could have made a staff report. Instead, you chose to try and incite drama in OOC and continue to misuse it, as you have many times this past month. The allegation that I don't consistently enforce OOC rules is the only preposterous part of this staff report, as CM's can review my history of punishments on the server. I'm going to withhold any further comment unless requested by management.

@Jean-Luc I expect you to change your attitude in the community, immediately. It is unacceptable that you are acting like that in a public communications chat (OOC) towards other players and treating our staff team like that. If you have a complaint or constructive feedback, please present it in a respectful manner. You should know better. Failure to change your attitude and your behaviour will result in a removal from this community.

As for Knight's actions, the punishment is more than reasonable, due to they way you acted and your unacceptable behavior.
