Lack of Staff

Almost every night I get on there are either 1 or 2 staff that are slow from a long days worth of reports and toxicity of some people or 0 staff period in the server that still have over 50 people at 8:45 pm on a Thursday.

I want to be staff to ease some of the evening work and I was denied work, even me asking to do a trial run just to see if I can handle it.

It's why player reports exist. Everyone understands by now that staff are people and have things to do. It's not a lack of staff that causes low staff numbers at this time. It's a dead zone which the majority of staff members either are sleeping, working, eating or studying especially at this time of year.

We won't lower our standards of player selection for recruitment to achieve to gain more staff members. There is a criteria that needs to be matched, not every player may be suitable or ready to be staff at this current time.

Set yourself some long-term and short-term goals to achieve that outcome, your time may come in the future!

Regarding the lack of staff as you mentioned during at certain periods of the day, I agree with Shimax's reasoning on this:

Do not tag Monolith Staff unless there is a critical issue or they an active participant of a discussion.

If server is going to sh*t that counts as "critical" in my book.

Servers always a circus when staff get off, might as well allow people to do whatever... We can record obviously but tbh any seasoned player would know their taking a risk playing when there's no staff online, uploading and making a forums report is lengthy and often not worth it for low level offences.

I think players need to realise and learn that no staff hour is bound to be a circus and might as well embrace it and join the circus!

A staff roster is unrealistic and gay for a gmod server, staff are allowed to log on and off as they please, as long as they show activity no one can tell them otherwise.

Early mono mornings is actually just the purge, half the time it will be a mass rdm in progress or just a 10 person group going around shooting everything that moves.

Wow, I decide to come back and this is the first thread im participating xD. Anyway, so im going to voice a few of my own opinion here because well im bored, first thing first in defense of staff as much as everyone can complaint about lack of staff you guy have to admit that staffing on monolith is tiresome af, you have to deal with 10 year old who are trying to convince you that they are not mass rdming rn and are participating in purge RP and then the fact of the matter is everyone who is staff is a volunteer here who spend their time out of their day to make sure the server don't go ape shit. On the other hand from player perspective it is often infuriating to see a server with high pop yet no staff even though some are online at that moment and time because then it feel like they have the rank yet they are fuck off elsewhere instead of helping out when needed which is kinda the point of staff.

Now honestly at this point if no staff are on just use raven video as an example : Just enjoy the bullshittery that is the no staff hour, I mean when staff finally hop on and moderate then go back to the normal but just sit down, relax and just enjoy everything that goes wrong until it goes right really. It's a nice change of scenery i'll admit that tho

The main problem i see is not that there isnt enough staff on the roster but the fact that new players who dont know what they are doing keep getting staff. Like the old requirement used to be that you had to be active in the community. This just isnt the case anymore, for example Greennate067, no one knew who this guy was, and he got demoted almost instantly for breaking rules. If you go to the mentor/staff announcement threads then see when their forum accounts were created then to when they got mentor/staff is ridiculous. It seems a quantity over quality approach is being followed by who gets staff now a days. Staff/Mentors are the face of the server, a year ago there were way less staff but the ones that were staff/mentors deserved their rank and did their jobs, it seems like hardly any staff gets demoted/punished properly now and new players get staff so fast. Id much rather have 1 staff online who actually knows the community/its rules then 5 new mods who get admin within a month and have no clue what they are doing. This kinda stuff has definitely been a big factor in the decline of players.

P.S. : This is not "Inciting drama" its an opinion that ik im not alone in sharing
