What happened: My Friend disconnected from the server with the items in his car. Therefore they were eliminated from existence.

I can verify he lost these items. He and his friend where attending a talent show event hosted by Melody, when they put their items in the truck of his friends car. His friend lost connection to the server(timed out in logs), and the car despawned taking all their items with it.
