Verbal Warning or Written Warning?

If you get a Verbal warning for something, and it goes on your record, isnt that a Written warning? If so, can we can the saying changed from "Verbal Warning" to "Written Warning" ?

They're called verbal warnings because they don't directly affect you although yes they do go on your record. Written warnings however would be warning points that will ban you eventually after reaching a certain amount.

I guess that makes sense, since text could be considered non-verbal and verbal communication.
