Yo, so this thread is where people can say what their favorite licence plates are, based on what you think looks most aesthetically appeasing. However, please only include North American plates coz European plates are boring AF, as they just have numbers + letters without any designs or uniqueness.

I will list a couple of my favorites below

Massachusetts - Not only is this my home state, but I just love how simple it is, and its instantly recognizable. Although it is similar to California, I think the color scheme is better

Arizona - Like this coz it has a bunch of decoration, and it is easily recognizable, nice color scheme

Oregon - Nice clean look, I like how it has a picture of a tree on coz there are trees in oregon

Pennsylvania - Again, one thats instantly regonizable, also like the color scheme

Texas - A lot of pride associated in the design, but it would look better if it featured the state flag coz thats bomb af

These are my least favorites:

Maryland - features the state flag of MD, which looks hideous, so thats a no from me

Washington DC - When I was in DC last month, I was expecting a dope plates from the capital, but it seemed a bit bland, with only the words 'taxation without representation'. What tf does that mean?

New Mexico - the colors are just horrendous, and it is not aesthetically pleasing in my opinion

What do u guys think? Should anything be added or removed? (Also sorry if I dissed your own state) Let me know in the comments if u agree or disagree

The bit about "taxation without representation" comes from the fact that Washington D.C. residents have no representatives in Congress (with the power to vote for legislation, at least). In addition to this lack of voting power, the US Congress has the direct authority to override local laws within the Washington D.C. city-proper. You may remember from U.S. history the phrase, "No taxation without representation", coined by James Otis. That statement was a perfect encapsulation of the resentment felt by colonists towards the British crown, as they were themselves required to pay significant taxes (which benefited the British Empire) without having any representation within the British parliamentary system. This slogan was also one of the grievances listed in the U.S. Declaration of Independence toward the British Crown. I quite enjoy the Washington D.C. license plate for this reason, as it is a sly, harmless way of "getting back" at the federal government.

Why does the government want Washington DC to realize and actively advertize that they have less power in congress? Surely the government decides what is on the plates, so why are they supporting something that is protesting them?

Now I hate to be that guy but...

the longest bridge in the western hemisphere

Longest suspension bridge between points at 5 miles long sure but Canada has one much longer and just in a different category. The Confederation bridge is 8 miles long and the longest bridge in the world to cross ice covered water (only in the winter).
