Could someone explain how punching a cop is copbaiting?

My general experience I was told it's just assault and it's an arrestable offense. I was just banned for it "for copbaiting"

Punching a cop is quite literally cop baiting tbh, since that's the situation you are referring to that got you banned for 8hours...

Its more the fact you failed to stop after you were asked to by the detective, which made it worse.

Although punching does not do any damage... this is an "RP" server. Within RP its battery, which you could and should be arrested for. Going up to a cop to punch them does seem like cop-baiting as you are committing a crime...

Just because they break a rule all the time... does not mean its ok to do it. I'm unsure of what exactly was done so its hard to comment my full opinion.

Assault on an LEO has many forms than just coming up and punching a cop... an example being punching a cop whilst in custody for retaliation

also assault is when you do some action that could cause physical harm, battery is when you do an action that does inflict physical harm

I arrived, saw you punching a cop for no apparent reason which suggests cop-baiting, but the Admins likely wont respond straight away so I must continue with the RP until staff arrives thus charging you with Assault on an LEO, etc...

In my personal opinion, you are interrupting a scenario that you had no place in, even after being warned you will be shot you continued, and even when you were shot you continued punching them.

Yeah lets hear it, you failed to bring it up in the sit which suggests guilt.

I didn't record the interaction, but as he didn't appear to be a cop, I didn't even know he was a detective to begin with until the arrest/sit.

Either way you did it infront of a marked cruiser, which would still be cop-baiting. Now cop-baiting is one of those rules which is definitely situational, but from what I’ve seen it seems you had no other motive other than to provoke someone.

Are you referring to the car that Viktor pulled up in, or the one way in the background on the bridge?

If it's the car that pulls up, they pulled up to a scene of crime/assault. You can see in the video I was already running at the dude before Viktor showed up, it's not like once I saw the cop car I chased him.


If it's the one in the background, I guess you could argue that. I don't remember if there was a cop there or if it was just an empty car, but I did not remember seeing that when I saw the dude
