Extremely inconsistent internet connection

A description of your technical issue: It's not directly linked to monolith, but it affects my gameplay. Basically the issue I have is that my ethernet randomly gets extremely slow, and unusable. The annoying thing is is that some of the time it is extremely fast - I can run various games without any connectivity issues whereas other times I can barely access my email, and it gets super unusable
Has it happened before?: Its always been an issue with my computer, and its only my computer that has this issue. Basically in the past I used a wifi adapter and connected to wifi, but the wifi connection kept dropping. Then I got an ethernet connection, and it worked perfectly until like 2 months ago, when I started to get these issues

Is it due to my ISP if my computer is the only one that has connectivity issues? My laptops, cell phones and tablets all work fine on the same wifi. Could it be down due to my actual ethernet cable or any settings on my computer?

Do you have a good internet package? if you have too many devices using your wifi it could slow your connection. If you google internet speed check you will get a good idea how your internet is running

On my laptop when I run the google chrome internet test it says very fast, but I can't even get enough internet speed to run it on my PC when it's having connection issues. I think its a problem with my computer rather than the actual internet package.

Even when I had a different ISP I had the same problem, as my other devices worked and connected perfectly, it was only my PC that had issues. Could it be that it is a faulty plug socket or something?

Do you have any tabs, applications, etc. running while playing the server?

In that case it's best to contact your PCs support team, just to rule out the pc as the problem, then check your cable, then check with your ISP

I think its due to my cable. Normally when i use my laptop, its really fast on wifi. When i plug my ethernet it gets extremely slow

I think it's just temporary due to Corona and everyone being inside in your area using internet. I have the exact same issue on ps4, phone etc. Where its now 5x slower than what it was a week ago and had been for years even with ethernet. Just wait for lockdown to get lifted a little and if it doesn't fix them call your ISP like the other guys said above

Also, call you ISP and ask them to test for packet loss. That was my issue, and it was because of a hole in my line where I was getting signal leakage.

When your connection becomes very slow, enter in this website and test your connection, take a print and leave mainly the information about Jitter and Delay visible. Also test it when your connection is normal and post the prints here and show it to your ISP.

When it gets really slow, its like I have no connection at all. I wouldn't even be able to access that website

I think you have signal leakage tbh. Check your visible CAT5 cable for any tears, holes or abrasions. The tube is made like an actual water pipe, as literal signal waves moves through the line. If you have a hole, signal leaks from the cable like water leaking from a hose.
