The way it currently is, fishing doesn't really hold much ground as a skill to level. It doesn't give you lots of player xp like wood cutting or mining, doesn't give a lot of money like farming or chemistry, isn't used to get many items in game such as metal working or crafting, not really a every day thing like cooking. It just doesn't have much of a place for anything compared to other trades. I think there are at least 3 different ways of making fishing at higher levels slightly more practical.
1. Higher level fishermen have a higher chance of catching anything. It is odd that a level 1 fisher man and a level 60 fisherman have the same odds of reeling in anything from their cast.
2. Higher level fishermen should have a slightly higher chance of catching higher end fish
3. Fish should be worth slightly more. Not a whole lot but, the time it takes to gather fish at the moment (even at high levels) isn't work the money you receive in return
I doubt anything will actually come from this but hey, its out there now.
