What happened: Retrieved weapon (L85A2) from evidence locker. Attempted to drop the weapon for my partner. When pressing "drop" the item disappeared completely.

Evidence: No hard evidence other than I was referred here by a Moderator @Justin The Ungrateful when I reported the missing item in-game.
