As a cop, most issues have been addressed by big man Stewart and especially ArticSalad's replies.

Right now, atleast in my personal experience, playing a cop is getting harassed 24/7 by toxic children while there's a bank/pd raid going on and 5 different people fleeing and eluding over a €500 reckless driving ticket. Hooray for roleplay.

Is there really a choice between playing a civ, which is mostly just an idle clicker game in the first 36 hour playtime of actively being civ, or playing as cop and getting harassed and not being able to do anything for 10+ minutes every time someone decided to go KOS mode, which happens quite a lot, because that's apperantly only way to get out of police situations?

The bare minimum of not getting a half an hour jail sentence or an $1500+ ticket is just not being a prick, it's that simple. We don't like sending people away to prison for long, because we know how it is to constantly not be able to play the game.

We only react to however you are acting, you know, kind of like police officers do.

Just wanted to put this out there. this has been bothering lately especially when some people try to blame the police for their mistakes. My experience might be different to other cops as I'm european and only am online for about 3 hours as the server gets active.

I've been specifically tasked with improving this PD and have been A/B testing a range of different approaches. I've also researched other communities approaches and what's worked - what has strongly stood out is that an effective chief that is aware of all situations, a low sense of division between normal players and cops, and lower losses for criminals all lead to a better force.

I guarantee if we tackle these issues things will improve.

Policing is for the most part a responsive role in this game, (intelligence led policing ultimately involves giving cops an unfair advantage in this game and so is not viable unless you want to give cops drones and trackers) and so their conduct generally relies on the behaviour of the people they deal with.

The other option for intelligence led policing is stationing foot patrols in key areas to increase engagement: this is what used to happen anyway, we didn't need to enforce it to bring order to the city.

High loss means less role play and more people simply trying to profit or regain their losses. That means to a cop that all they get to interact with is someone trying to get away and spend their time, or a criminal. A year ago with lower losses, cops could have funny chats with the community and provide things for shops or local events. Now they either get told to go away or get shot. As such, they turn to their fellow cops for entertainment and this can lead to misconduct.

As such a temporary fix might be to reintroduce more role play enhancements, but these were met with complaints again due to the losses and interruption to money making they caused.

Things didn't use to be like this - monocommunism/monosocialism is the answer.

Case in point - most successful fivem servers with healthy happy communities of cops and civs often give players a spawnmenu and a set of rules for its use rather than making them pay. They're props for roleplay: making them a target corrupts the goal of having fun role play.

We've done as much as we can for cops, whitelisting the chief and introducing harsh punishments. Ultimately however, we risk leaving them with not much to do. On paralake people were happy to mess with detectives and new players for laughs. Now, if you're not within the org already you'll either be mugged or stabbed for snitching due to a paranoia of losing profits.

We didn't use to be like this.
Something I saw in 1 particular successful Police RP server, was that not only there were many divisions to work towards becoming, but there were a set amount of rules, regulations, and direct communication with the Police Chief and Dispatcher for every situation. The PD in pursuit had direct priority in COMMS and overall was regulated professionally.

I feel that perhaps adding the minor implementations made aid in the RP enhancement as a whole. Dispatchers, FBI, ETC. This provides a set role and sole objective to work towards. Perhaps the implementation of promotions? Since I felt that these simple changes created a different point of view of how to RP as a PD officer.

If you need clarification to what I mean feel free to ping me xD

Oh I absolutely agree - there are a lot of features like panic buttons, more specific radio control and better car handling that would make our PD far more professional, I feel we're bottlenecked by the speed of development though and so decided to work with what we have rather than rock the boat. Feel free to suggest all of these and I'll support it.

After reading this thread, @StewartJames has already outlined most of the statements that I would had wanted to make.

I do appreciate this discussion as it does bring the community together to discuss personal issues/feedback. Any feedback is welcome, it helps us see things from a player's perspective.

Thus, I hope your experience on Monolith Servers will be a more enjoyable experience and if there is anything that I can do to improve your time on the server as a staff member, feel free to message me privately on discord or on the forums @Tye. I'd be more than welcome to have a private discussion to hear your concerns.

Kind regards,
Skojenmeister.
