Every time i try to load into monolith it just shows initializing when I finally load in, and it doesn't stop either. It just says that until I close gmod or I turn off my laptop 1608709055507.png

You should be able to open console still by pressing `

Open console and type "retry" without quotations.

From personal experience, I'm fairly sure this issue is due to timing out during the 'Starting Lua' phase of loading in due to it taking longer to load in after first starting the game.

Doubt it because he actually connected into the server.

Doesn't stop him timing out. It does it every so often for me. If you notice in console, no OOC or any other chat messages appear, indicating some form of connection loss.

If along with this issue you're experiencing a long loading time then its probably related to your HDD. Consider changing your GMod archives to a SSD, it will definitely solve these issues. It happened to me, had so much stuck on "initializing" screen before I moved my GMod to an actual SSD.

I have GMOD on my HDD and it starts up fine. A friend of mine had this issue and it just started working all of a sudden, so it might fix itself eventually.

I used to have this all the time, pretty sure it was my ram. So I just lowered all of my graphics settings and it fixed it 99% of the time. You could also try restarting your PC before joining to clear up some ram

(I'm also playing on a HDD)

If lowering graphics settings does help, I still suggest you leave model texture quality on high, or else some vehicles may appear glitched. However, disabling or reducing shadows, antialiasing etc will help you out. If it continues after that and you can rule out Monolith being the actual problem, perhaps its time for a PC upgrade?
