I a few months back always ran a checkpoint on trinity
I gave the option of passing through and being searched or turning back and taking an alternative route ex:subway
I would not force a search and always give them the chance to say no and turn back is this an allowed action as police
I was told by @PMX months back that it was ok but different staff say otherwise and I just want it to be said out here so I have a document to show if its allowed or not

Yes, at a checkpoint, civilians have the right to turn around and refrain from entering the city in order not to be searched, for whatever reason.

my question is about the traffic stop itself is a search required pass where you have the choice to take an alternate route allowed. some admins try to tell me its illegal and not allowed but PMX told me its allowed and im just in a confused point

I don't see why that should be illegal and not allowed, it's just a simple checkpoint in this case and not a national border, so it should be fine to take an alternative route. But as a policeman, you shouldn't suggest anything like this to civilians who refrain to enter the city.

This happened to me once too, Pmx said it was ok but it seems that this is not a consensus among the Staff. Imo the problem is that when the Cops does this checkpoint they usually raise the drawing bridge, so if you are driving a car and don't wanna get searched you become unable to leave the sunset insland(by car).

They claims that, by doing so, no illegal products will be able to leave sunset island by car, but if there is a civilian who is carrying something illegal and does not want to be searched, they can simply access the sunset insland bank/premium box and deposit their items in order to retrieve them after they passed through the checkpoint. in my humble opnion, this is useless and sounds almost as a random check, not to mention this only delays the activities of people who try to get around the city and transport items.

However, If the Cops' intention is to combat vehicle theft, or restrict escape routes to Banks/PD raids or other adverse situations, this looks perfectly plausible and efficient to me.
