I don't think it makes sense for us players to be concerned about this. It ain't a change that would impact our experience in any way. We aren't the owners, it's none of our business.
The farthest we can go is to suggest and discuss about things within our realm of interest, like the game experience itself, it's mechanics, features, community. What they do or should('nt) do with their money it's up to them.

Staff is already getting paid in many forms, free premium, in game money, perks, RP possibilities that are only avaible to them, participating in beta tests, participating in the overall project or, in some cases, just the feeling of power, of being "above" everyone else in a closed environment, yeah many people value this.
If you think about, none of them are doing a "volunteer" work to the letter, although, that's a fact that doesn't discredit their hard work and their good will in any form.

It's already cool and impressive that gus took his own time to actually reply to this, instead of just telling people it's not their business and locking the thread, if stuvi was still here that's what probably would have happened. things can change

I don't know if you get the fact that this thread was posted under the "Discussion" part of the forum and it was framed as a Question. I'm not saying staff should or should not get paid, I'm asking if doing so would improve gameplay or not.

You know, trying to start a... Discussion about this topic?

My whole point is that its a discussion that doesn't need to happen, you used an analogy of a police force and tried to compare it to a gmod staff team? My previous points still stand, staff get paid with in game checks like a job/free premium at certain ranks which seems fine as they volunteers. Moreover the current issue with report times isnt cus staff arent getting paid irl money. Last thing - if you being staff for the rewards then you shouldnt become staff.

If interested members of a community join a Garry's Mod staff team solely for monetary gain, then you'll have a different staff team altogether.

They'll be there for the monetary benefit, which in essence may be the only motivating factor. Whereas, the current staff team are motivated by the passion to help players and the community.

yes only reason is passion to help! totally no staff are motivated by the feeling of having power over everyone else and being able to spawn stuff in etc

I mean, paying them wouldnt change those people, they'd just be getting paid for it.

"Passion"? you can speak it for yourself as you were a real good staff member, however you can't be that thoughtless to speak for everyone. You don't know what's inside everyone's mind, plus there are many benefits in becoming staff to just suppose everyone who are there are just for "the passion". The reality isn't that romantic

I was staff sometime ago, so i might be out of loop. However, I felt compensated well enough and I remember every reward I got. The idea of cosmetics seem cool though.

I’ve been staff for a few days and feel compensated quite well, also for staff who reach Administrator get a nice bump in ability’s. I think cosmetics are a very cool idea.

Cosmetics for staff sounds like a cool idea I once received the horse hat which was pretty over prized for not that many events we did. Like Santa hats and small hats I feel like are fine to give out for events and participations in making it. But like don’t give out extremely rare hats like horse hats and golden top hats etc. Imo
