Admin being reported: @Lola though you might consider @Stuvi and @DevuTj conduct a contributing factor

Reason for Report:

This isn't the first time I've had this specific issue. Previously I made this thread about the issue, and it was advised that I report incidents personally. While it is difficult for me to report verbal uses of homophobic slur due to my inability to record, I was quite frustrated to see it resurface in discord.

Whilst initially, they tried the old excuse of "Oh I meant a bundle of sticks" they later tried to argue with me about how there was no harm meant in it, and I was the one overreacting by being offended, and they became increasingly vehement about it.

It shouldn't be something that I have to debate with people It is a slur. It contributes to a negative environment for the people that the words are designed to target, and it normalizes the negative stereotypes and actions towards those groups.
Using Gay, or any word that is designed to represent gay, slur or otherwise as a negative attribute, an insult to others, you are literally equating bad with gay.
You are reinforcing this to other people as just a casual 'joke', as a throwaway opinion that does not matter or carry weight.
But it does matter, and it has serious repercussions for the people it is targeting. Not least in verbal negativity, but in the subsequent attacks that follow.

We have, gladly, accepted the understanding of this kind of negativity and prejudice by blocking racial slurs in our community, and while the rules do technically cover this kind of prejudice too, I am saddened to see that not just Lola, but other staff members do not follow the logic that this kind of prejudice is unacceptable.

I'm not prepared to allow bullying to determine what communities I am a part of. I would much rather stand up to ignorance and change people's understanding and acceptance of others, regardless of their origins and personalities. It's time to take this issue seriously.

Alright. No one here is bullying whatsoever. We're not bullying anyone and the only thing we are stating here is our opinions. You got very offended very fast regarding this situation and I feel like it was over the line in your aspect. The level of what Lola stated was extremely low, it should have just ended there without any drama. You shouldn't be taking it so to heart, you weren't even being spoken to in the first place.

And my statement here stands, because it's 100% valid.

The internet is harsh, and if you can't put up with this kind of criticism, then I would suggest you further follow this advice - I'm not being mean, I'm not being a horrible person - I'm being a realist.

1. I didn't say it was a bundle of sticks, those were joel and fox if I recall it correct.
2. It was a debate in my opinion, where I got to say my opinions just as much as you got to say your opinions.
3. It was directed to a friend and you had to involve yourself because you have some personal feelings to certain topics. So much that you had to take some things out of context. This isn't the first time I've noticed how far you go to state your opinion about certain ''sensitive'' topics. Even generic topics that are not slurs, such as ''LGTB'' (something) or anyone's opinions about genders, you take it far because of your personal feelings. However you need to be very careful, as you are wrongfully comparing it to being bullied. You should know the difference between debates and bullying.
4. I respected your ways and apologized at the end, regardless if I agree or not, any type of slurs aren't indeed accepted. At least not on the monolith discord, what I do or say in my private life is my choice, not yours.

I know full-well that Lola has nothing against homosexual people. When she briefly wrote that comment, it was surely meant as a joke. I'm not finding it any amusing, but a lot of people do mess around with that type of language. I can therefore feel that it's a shame how this wasn't resolved in a more simple manner than through a formal staff report. Yet, now when it has gotten this far, I need to set a precedent for all staff members regarding their language in public channels. It should be professional and represent the community. Lola's brief comment is not that bad on the scale, but we can do well without it in public channels from staff, and hopefully this experience will remind her and any other staff members of that.

I wasn't there when the argument went down on Discord, so I'm not gonna judge that too much. I hope both sides tried to resolve it and move on, but then again we wouldn't be here if that was the case. Essentially, we don't want to see a formal staff report for every minor incident, yet I can feel it would have been expected from the accused side to apologise briefly and then move on as well.

With that said, this report is concluded.
