Use of "N*gga" IN-CHARACTER, and Section 1, Rule 6...

MOTIVE:
I've created this post to:
1. Clear the ambiguity of Section 1, Rule 6, on https://monolithservers.com/forums/threads/monolith-rp-server-rules.180/
2. Gather a general consensus on the communities opinions

OVERARCHING QUESTION(S):
"Should saying, 'n*gga (NOT THE HARD R, WHICH IS THE REAL "N-WORD...")' , as a term of endearment/friendship, WHILE acknowledging and catering towards others feelings/emotions aka "reading the room", be punishable?"

"Do you consider 'n*gga' a ethnic slur, regardless if used as a term of endearment?"

"Can you give your opinion on how 'n*gga (NOT THE HARD R)' makes the server any worse for players, if at all?"

ANECDOTAL/PERSONAL ACCOUNTS:
I'm biracial/mulatto, or simply half-black-half-white, so I have a hard time already when it comes to conforming to society's construct of "race..." I don't fit and/or don't have all of the qualities to be considered "white" or "black"
solely, but a mixture of both ethnicities...


All that to say, I feel sorta excluded from the community, it being administrated by predominantly people of Caucasian/white origin, and having them make such rule on a word that, I'd say, is globally regarded as a "black person's choice" to use...

And how can it be offensive? When most of the player-base is

Caucasian/white? I just ask out of curiosity, not to hate/bash...

And that's not to bash the staff for being "Caucasian/white," but it's to say;

"how can someone who isn't from that background/someone who hasn't had
large quantities of experience with that word, totally rule it out?"


POSSIBLE COUNTER-CLAIMS
"Some people don't like it, and don't want it said around them..."

Of course some people don't tolerate it, but that's why the rule states: "Your in-game character may be offensive to a certain degree HOWEVER, once players feel uncomfortable you have to stop immediately. Be observant and considerate."
So, you may use it around some people, but if you say things like:
"N*gga, please..."
and the person you've said it to says:
"Don't use that fucking word towards me, seriously..."
You MUST not use it again, or you run the risk of being punished via negligence of caring about someone's opinion...

And personally, it makes me curious how a community of majority
Caucasian/white players can be "offended and/or become uncomfortable" in a RP game about creating a persona...again just a curiosity of mine, no hate
NOT SAYING IT SHOULD BE USED 24/7 BTW
AND NEVER CAN BE USED OOC'LY...



CONCLUSION:

If you have, or haven't read some of the things I've said...simply, I just don't wanna cause issues and be punished, by trying to add flavor to my in-game character...



The game/roleplay is suppose to be fun, and hearing someone say:

"That's my n*gga right there, he's the best chef in all of Monoford, baby!"



OR



"N*GGA I'M DONE WITH THESE BLACKJACK DEALERS, THIS CASINO IS BULLSHIT!"


Is quite harmless, entertaining, and doesn't promote any negativity...


So all I ask, is for the communities opinion, and administration's unbiased opinion, that hopefully won't get them in trouble for being sincere and honest, ha...

While I appreciate your inquiry and attempt to reach out to the community for support, or otherwise garner some opinion on this matter, I will be closing this thread.

1.6 of our Server Rules state:

1. We do not tolerate derogatory slurs towards any group of people, such as racism, homophobia etc., within the community - especially Out-Of-Character. Your in-game character may be offensive to a certain degree HOWEVER, once players feel uncomfortable you have to stop immediately. Be observant and considerate. Things like the N-word and other ethnic slurs are never acceptable - neither Out-Of-Character nor In-Character.

I understand you want to argue the "proper" or "contextual" usage of the word and the "reappropriation" of the word, however, this changes very little as that word at its very core has been racist. Beyond that, this is an issue that is very difficult to enforce in a way that would be satisfying for all parties involved. We are not here to selectively enforce these things, you are asking too much from the staff team here. This also becomes an issue regarding advertising and promotional material, creators who join our server may have their content 'age-restricted' or removed directly as a result of player interaction and the use of that word. It was decided that instead of making exceptions for its use, we would completely outlaw its usage.

We want to create a community that is welcoming and friendly to all players, this is why we have rules prohibiting these words, regardless of their intended usage.
