it's not hard to make friends, grind cop and mining for a day so you can reach player level 50 and do LSD. with the cop paychecks you can buy some rifles and base with other people

don't waste your time with weed
I just need help starting with LSD and a walkethrough with it. Like in game so I understand it. It’s so hard too find people willing too do that and actually help me out. I’m player lvl. 52 and got 25K in the bank

I disagree in parts when you say the problem is Garry's mod. I believe it is the fault of the mechanics of monolith and santosrp / darkrp themselves. Not referring to the toxicity itself, but the frequent Raid / frag rp.
After playing MRP for a few months, I feel that when u reaches lvl 99 on each skill and put together some good money, a good car, the only thing left is Raid / mug for these players.

You do know that Monolith also has a roleplay factor to it, right? There's so much more fun to be had when you roleplay an identity, or open a shop, or provide services to the city as a roleplayed service.

I used to see players come on in factions that would run the mechanics shop, and they'd be chuckling and having fun amongst eachother, they did not need to be "fragging" to have this fun. When I actively played, I would create a "scenario character" that would drive around the map or do something to provoke RP situations with players. Whether it was a man who had no understanding of English being pulled over for speeding, or a crazed man who kidnaps people and takes them into the woods, does "/me steals shoes" and then runs away. When I would actively play PD I would micro-manage the PD and even organize meetings and control the radio and ensure the PD were operating smoothly. When I would play taxi, I would conduct the "Cash Cab" and do trivia with the person riding, and if they won my trivia, I would reward them with RP $ that I made legitimately in-game.

It has nothing to do with the mechanics, it has to do with the mentality one has. It bothers me dearly when I see a player set up a little RP shop, and the first thing some player does is shoot it up for absolutely no reason. Why not interact with the shopkeep? Why not buy items from him which might be cheaper than the MonoMarket or the in-game NPC stores? Why not interact with the playerbase more and joke around in the store, or lounge, or whatever it might be instead of immediately trying to start a gunfight, whatever faction you might be? I even tried, with another staff member, to run stores and we would get immediately killed for seemingly no reason when it was a fast food restaurant

My point being, I understand very well the state of Garry's Mod is not all there right now, and the mentality is the gun-play. But if you're so bored, and you did all you can do, why not try roleplaying out situations? Why not give back to our community and conduct RP scenarios like lounges or clubs? If our staff see this, they will help you out in any way they can if you ask nicely. We are accommodating to this, and we would love to see our playerbase be more kind to those who like to roleplay, instead of killing them. We do not care if you like fragging, but why go after the people who want to provide life to the community?

And before someone says "hurr only staff can make shops and stuff!"

This was a player who started this, and with our staffs assistance, they were able to operate a shop. So the mechanics are definitely there, it is up to you as the player to decide how you play the game, the game doesn't decide how you play.

Just my two cents from my two year stint being staff for Monolith.

Dude, you're totally correct, i got your point.
I never actually did frag rp, as i said before i'm a total crap in the middle of the shootings.
i've been bored of playing monolith once, so i figured that was the main reason people did frag rp. as you said, it would be awesome if people opened their minds and tried to make a different and fun PR without the same raid / mug / raid / robbery routine.

Many of the situations you mentioned above that you did while playing seemed to be quite fun. Unfortunately for me it is very difficult to do this kind of roleplay because of my language difficulties, as it is clear english is not my native language and this RP type you quoted is 100% dependent on a good voice conversation. When I migrated to Monolith, the aspect that I enjoyed the most and kept me stuck on the server was the "grinding element", evolving skills, making items and so on.my Interactions with the players were few, but the many interactions I've had have really been fun, even with my illegal immigrant english-sounds-like. This make me understand what you mean.

About creating stores, I've done a lot. when in truenorth, i used to leave cake and drink tables near spawn and made a LOT of money selling these items. But then the devs decided to force the item owners to be close to them so they wouldn't get stolen, that made me waste precious time I could be been making more cakes and stuff to sell, from that I were forced to do nothing than stay close to the items and let them sells for itselves while I watch a YouTube video.but I kept selling and making good money. Now on Monoford, the devs have implemented one more restriction: you should only place items or sell them within your store. I can no longer put up items that sell a lot and have made me earn a lot of money in busy places as long as it doesn't get in the way. What I mean is that there is no incentive and ease to open a store. I already did a store RP similar to what you mentioned, in Monoford I rented the store next to the real state agency, put the table outside, put the items to sell inside the store and dragged them out of the store with the gravity gun. Still, few bought and I lost almost 3 hours of RP that could be doing much more profitable things, and that's because the items were outside, if they were inside the storere it would be worse. I believe there are good and bad decisions, and imo these changes in the Market system have made it even harder for those who want to do a shop PR like me. I know this is not the key theme of this topic or your own reply to my post but I would like to leave this feeling with you.

To add from this when I am bored I resort mainly to frag rp, that is because I find this the most enjoyable and rewarding almost end game type activity.

I completely understand that there is other aspects to the game which I do use every now and then but they do not feel as exciting, rewarding or even as enjoyable as going with an AUG to someone's base and coming out with everything they own.

but imagine all the people who worked hard for it just getting taken away. It sucks. It really does

The best thing that happened to me in truenorth was being raided by Ian Johnson @redw1re
He found me in a country house doing coke and took all my shit and then left.
I found him later in the city being chased by cops because i remembered his black Mclaren P1 i knew it was him.
I was pissed as shit and broke as hell so i was following them, im not 100% sure what exactly happened 7 months ago but i think he crashed his car and killed one or 2 cops and was basicly stranded there, so i went up to him and asked him if he needs a ride and he got inside my car.
After the heat was off us and the cops didnt chase us anymore i asked him:

"Hey you were the guy who took my shit in the country house"

He just said
"Oooh what was you? well we dont really have to talk about that right now. what happened happened."

Then i asked him
"i know you got a lot of money and im really broke as shit right now can i at least have the stove back?"

He said
"Well i already sold that stove to some other guy but you look like a dedicated guy wanna join the Org im in?"

and thats how i joined Vice Kings on truenorth given the org wasnt that active at the time but it had some decent lads in there i still play with today
@SKuLLzSKiLLz @Mr.Alex @Guacay # @Blankx @Pizza

Now why did all of this happen? because i interacted with people and spoke to them aka roleplay. raiders arent all ice cold with no mercy. Sure he could also have laughed at me and told me to fuck off but if you dont interact with people and just get frustrated you will never find out.

Eh, I mean, I try to join one and there all like “Your too poor”. And then they really just give me hell.
Why are you guys so toxic too new players?
Here at "The Firm", we have no issue taking in new players. No matter what there financial issues are.

Back to different types of roleplay, I sometimes do bail bonds for people getting arrested as a detective, where they're let free with instructions to come back and not enter properties/handle firearms or vehicles. Keep tabs on them and if good roleplay happens you can end up with a full scale manhunt investigation, or with a tracking project that ends with a smaller sentence time and a good relationship between cops and people. Just an idea for budding detectives who are tired of the infiltrate and raid monotony.

Because apparently being toxic equates to being cool. Sadly, there aren't many people who decide to play nice or at least communicate on a decent manner. Welcome to Garry's Mod I suppose.

Hopefully you can find decent people who can guide you and help you enjoy our server more.

toxic does not equal being cool

this is just how the game and community is built, each and one of us "high tier gang members" have gone through hell and back having to deal with large gangs shitting on us constantly and hours on hours of work to grind their levels and money. When we raid most of us avoid unprofitable raids such as new players doing weed, or farmers growing whatever. When I joined monolith I was fascinated by the game mechanics and the HUD, I really wanted to get into it so I grabbed a pickaxe and started mining hours and hours struggling to make 10k for a volvo. I got to LSD and grabbed a makrov and each and everytime I would be fucked over by huge gangs and I would take a like a 2 week break and I would come online, but the same thing would happen over and over again.

Eh, I mean, I try to join one and there all like “Your too poor”. And then they really just give me hell.
Why are you guys so toxic too new players?

Your a liability, unpredictable and have nothing to lose compared to the bigger gang members by having something to lose such as LSD, Cocaine and big boy guns. You show that your willing to lose a lot for the gang, and even that might not be enough you have to be reliable in combat and be able to follow each and every command someone gives you.

many of us "older players" have experienced times we would be fucked over by new people or they were just extremely toxic to us

you say that but call me a squeaker everytime you see me :(

toxics dont really get people anywhere in my book. More toxic = Less Respect

^^^^^^^^^^
considering what he said your pretty much the same as everyone else, its like how the reputation for 12 year olds on games is ruined when we see a "john doe" we immediately give him a lower place in the "monolith food chain"

That doesn’t mean you be extremely rude by A. Mugging them B. Cuss them out, or c just give them the worst experience. Just because people are new dosent mean you have too say ohhhhhh let’s just fuck this guy over. My worst experiences on Garrys Mod was on Monlith because people are just plain out rude too new guys. No one wants too help anyone and starting out and how it is now is making extremely new players want too leave the server. I think there needs to be a change.

I disagree with you, I am a long term player with 110 AUGs in my bank and some very nice cars. I help out new players and show them around give them some cash and let them base / farm with me but I have to be in the mood for it, if you come up to me and ask for help after I have been raided or been annoyed I won't be that nice to you at all. However, if I am going to go and farm some coconuts or leaves or just casually having a drive I will be a lot more open. Don't expect everyone to always go out of their way for a John Doe, we were all there at one point so just push through and look at the other side. I remember mining stone ores to buy a Ford Raptor as I didn't know there was other ores.

Just put some ear plugs in to block out the words that hurt your feelings and get over it, everyone was in that position at one point.

Push through it and just keep making friends and money, I don’t know what you are doing wrong but there is plenty of noob friendly orgs open and there is people who will help you. Just don’t expect help from the best or join the best orgs because at the moment it sounds like you are no where near the best.
